Question: 2006 Toyota Tacoma. How do you reset?
the maint required light after you change the oil yourself? It goes on automaticly to remind you to change the oil. But how do you reset it without the dealer?

Answer: A little more info from ALLDATA;

Engine Oil Replacement Reminder Light (for vehicles sold in U.S.A.)
This light reminds you when to replace the engine oil.

This light will come on when the ignition key is turned to ON and will go off after about a few seconds.

When you drive for about 7200 km (4500 miles) after the engine oil replacement, this light illuminates for about 3 seconds and then flashes for about 12 seconds with the ignition key turned to the "ON" position.
If you continue driving without replacing the engine oil, and if the distance driven exceeds 8000 km (5000 miles), the light will come on after the ignition key is turned to "ON" position, and will remain on thereafter.

If the light is flashing, we recommend that you replace the engine oil at an early opportunity depending on the driving and road conditions.
If the light comes on steady, replace it as soon as possible.

The system must be reset after the engine oil replacement.
Reset the system by the following procedure:

Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position with the odometer reading shown.
Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position while holding down the trip meter reset knob. Hold down the knob for at least 5 seconds. The odometer indicates "000000" and the light goes off. If the system fails to reset, the light will continue flashing.

Answer: sky jacker is the easiest and long lasting make sure you ask if it comes with neoprene bushing depending if your going suspension or body body lift should take about 3 hrs suspension 6 hrs

Question: 1999 toyota tacoma automatic ignition key switch does not turn, is it the key or the switch?
this is the only problem, the steering wheel is not locked it moves freely.

Answer: How badly is the key worn? Try a new key cut by code from the dealership. If you get a copy of a bad key you will be in the same boat. A new key is cheaper than a cylinder. (Worth a try) If the new key does the same thing then replace the cylinder.

Question: Repair Cost estimate on Toyota Tacoma 99 4WD?
I just recently got into an accident. The bumper on my truck is destroyed i'm lucky that is the only problem. I was wondering how much it would cost to get a new one put on. The guy driving the other car, and the person insured was under 2 different names. It's just the front Bumper the whole thing needs to be replaced, and some one said the mount needs to be straightened i don'tknow though i know nothing of cars.

Answer: Dude if it was mine I would call around to these junk yards and get another bumper throw it in the back of the car and drive over to the muffler shop and let em bolt it on or weld it on
a baody shop gonna stick it to ya.

Question: Is it posible to put and Toyota tacoma 4.0 engine in the body of a toyota land cruiser fj70?
if posible, should I replace diferentials and transmition as well?

answer: Anything is posible if you throw enough money at a problem.

I am not entirely familiar with he fj70 series. A good place to ask is www.ih8mud.com it is probably the largest land cruiser community on the internet and some one there is sure to know.

Seems like an odd swap though, If you want to keep it all Toyota, a 4.7 v-8 from the first generation of tundras might be easier to come by than the fairly new 4.0 v-6. the v-8 will run just fine on regular unleaded day in and day out, the 4.0 is strongly recommended to run on premium only. and the v-8, although not making much more horse power will have more low rpm grunt than the v-6.

Question: Speedometer stoped working on my 97 Toyota Tacoma?
The speedometer dosent have a cable that I can see. Any auto tecs out there know where to check next? This truck has been great. This is the first thing thats gone wrong with the truck since I bought it new in 1997.

Answer: The speedometer in toyota tacoma is electric. If the wire to the tale shaft is cut or if the small nylon gear in the tail shaft is stripped it will not work. The fuse being blown would take out the whole instrument panel. Check the wire first. If it is the gear it can easily be replaced.

Question: What the TORQUE for lug nuts on a 99' TOYOTA TACOMA?

answer: 83 ft-lb

Hopefully, you have alloy or aluminum wheels, because steel wheels can be damaged also by overtightened lug nuts.

Pep Boys did this to my Subaru four years ago. My steering wheel vibrated like crazy while braking. The damage was done.

A lot of those tire shop technicians (and mechanics) don't understand or don't care about proper torque because they weren't trained properly. They don't know that the required torque for Japanese cars, trucks, and SUVs is much less than for domestics. JT's answer illustrates my point.

Question: Toyota Tacoma spark plugs?
I have a 2002 Toyota Tacoma 2.4L
I am familiar with the basics of changing spark plugs, but this looks a little different from by dad's old Chevy.
I assume it is the stuff on the drivers side that are all connected by some metal bar. It also looks like the coils are on the plugs (no traditional plug wires).
Any special precautions for pulling the metal bar off, etc?
Also, what gap should I use?

answer: Not sure on what your calling the metal bar might be injector rail but the spark plugs are in the middle of the valve cover and there is a coil on top of each one and the spark plug gap is .043 in , there is not a single medal bar that holds them all in just a small black box with wires going to it but they will all be separate. Answer: I would stick with Genuine Toyota parts. These can be purchased/ordered through and Toyota dealership's Parts department. Even though your truck is out of warranty, all genuine Toyota parts you get will come with a 1 year warranty regardless of mileage. There is no one else out there that can match that.

Question: Ford f-150 vs ford ranger vs toyota tacoma vs nissan frontier?
im looking for something cheap that gets decent mileage, and reliability, i own a 89 ford mustang, over 250k miles, still works good, so i rely on that info about ford. which ones the best?

answer: I owned a ford f150 and loved it. It ran forever without any problems. The only thing I needed to replace was the tranny at 128,000 miles, other then that, I did not have any abnormal repairs. So I am a fan of the F150 from personal experiance and it gets very good reliability and repair history ratings from consumer reports and jd power. The Toyota Tacoma is also a awesome truck as far as reliability and repair history. To be honest with you, even though I am a huge Ford fan and Ford is my favorite car maker, if I could have any truck for free I would take the Toyota. I feel though, that the F150 is the best buy for the money and if I had to buy a truck with my hard earned money, I would buy the F150.

Question: Recommendations for upgrading an 06 Toyota Tacoma V6 4x4 TRD Off Road?
I just bought a brand new 06 toyota tacoma V6 4x4 with TRD Off Road.....i know its pretty suped up already with the off road and what not....but what are some recommendations on what else I should do to it? Lift it more than stock height? Accessories? Intake? etc......

answer: have you checked out the trd bolt on super-charger availble for that engine??? vrroom vrroom. pre. gas only .. if you go for it.when I worked for toyota all warr remained if installed by dealer.
not cheap.but speed is money how fast do you want to go? lol
the unit itself bolts on in less than 2 hours. besides the huge amount of extra horsepower. it looks and sounds bitchen.....have fun....E

dont mess with chassis..ie lift or tires the factory has it set up the best as it is. bigger tires or lift systems cause more trouble than anything else.

Question: Toyota Tacoma Belt is squeaking. How do you make it stop?
I am not sure which belt. I have tried tightening them...any other ideas. Thanks

answer: remove all of them.
and reinstall them, one run the engine, then the other then run the engine and so forward ,until You hear the noise again

Question: Toyota Tacoma gas milage Prerunner vs. base 4x2?
I'm trying to decide which model of tacoma to get. I want the 2.7 Liter 4 cyl. engine. Toyota's website lists the milage as the same for both prerunner and base models but the prerunner has bigger, wider tires, so that can't really be true.

If you own either of these models can you tell me the mileage you get?

Any advice on buying a new tacoma is appreciated....

Also... is the limitied-slip only available for the V6?

Answer: Pre Runner is lifted also which contains more parts which decrease the payload of the truck. You might experience a one gallon difference but it is fully worth it if your buying the 4 cylinder to get the Pre Runner. The limited slip is only available in the 6 cylinder TRD Sport Package.
